Hello folks, we decided to start making some Youtube videos related to decals. The very first video we decided to focus on getting your decals removed from the backing paper & applying them to a surface. We'll be doing some videos on how we convert files, software overviews & other tutorials as well so make sure you subscribe to our Youtube Channel.
Sometimes when you peel the transfer tape, the vinyl wants to stick to the backing paper which isn't what you're going for. You want the vinyl to come off with the tape. This short video also shows you how to apply your decal after you get the backing paper off.
There are many factors that can cause the decals to stay on the backing paper like temperature, humidity, age of the materials, etc. Watch this quick 2 minute video if you're having trouble - whether you got the decals from us or another company. Hope it helps! Be sure to Follow Us on Instagram :)
Quick rundown: Place decal face down on a flat surface. Then use a squeegee, ruler, book, credit card etc. and squeegee entire area. While the decal is still face down, peel back the backing paper from a corner, holding the tape down at the same time. While peeling back the paper keep it close to the decal as you peel it back. If you have any spots where the vinyl sticks to the backing paper instead of the tape, simply lay the backing paper back on the tape in that spot & rub the spot with your finger. Then continue peeling back the paper. Repeat that step whenever necessary.
Once you have the backing paper completely off take your decal (which should all be on the tape now) and stick in in the area you want it. Make sure you don't have any air bubbles - there are several ways to achieve this. Some people do the wet application which is good on larger decals. Also good when it has to be perfectly aligned. You can buy the solution or just mix a few small drops of dish soap in a spray bottle & fill with water. Spray the area where you are applying the decal & stick it like normal. Then you would just squeegee out any water/air bubbles out towards the edges. Dry method you would just stick it & use a squeegee while applying the decal. Some people stick the center first & work outwards. Some just stick it on in one move. Either way, you don't want air bubbles so make sure you at least use a squeegee whether you do a wet or dry application.
After you have it stuck you need to peel off the transfer tape. Do this the same way, just start at a corner and peel it back. I like to peel it back and lay it flat while pulling on an angle. Once the tape is completely off you can toss it in the trash as well as the backing paper.
The video above explains it much easier lol, so if you haven't watched it yet, just go ahead & press play.
Hope this helps & feel free to contact us if you need decals! We can use your design or in some cases we can make a design for you. If it's just text or something like that, we can do that easy. Thanks for stopping in :) Take care.
